Victoria's Skilled Migration Program for the 2024-25 period is now officially open, offering pathways for skilled professionals both within Victoria and from overseas to obtain visa nominations. The program includes two primary visa options:

Skilled Nominated Visa (subclass 190): This is a permanent residence visa allowing successful applicants to live and work anywhere in Victoria.

Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa (subclass 491): This provisional visa is valid for five years, with a pathway to permanent residency after living and working in regional Victoria for at least three years.
To be considered for a Victorian skilled visa nomination, applicants must first submit or update an Expression of Interest (EOI) through the Australian Government’s SkillSelect platform. Following this, a Registration of Interest (ROI) must be submitted to Victoria.
For the 2024-25 program, the Australian Government has allocated a total of 5,000 skilled visa nomination places to Victoria, distributed as follows:
- Skilled Nominated Visa (subclass 190): 3,000 places
- Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa (subclass 491): 2,000 places
