Skilled Program

The Australian Government has allocated 5,000 skilled visa nomination places to Victoria for the 2024-25 program. This allocation includes:

  • Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) – 3,000 places
  • Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491) – 2,000 places

Details about the eligibility requirements, program dates, and application processes for these visas will be published soon. This program aims to attract highly skilled migrants to meet the labor market needs of Victoria, particularly in regional areas.

Business Innovation and Investment Program (BIIP)

The Australian Government has permanently ceased the Business Innovation and Investment Program (BIIP) (subclass 188) visa program as of July 2024. This change is part of a broader strategy to streamline Australia's migration program and focus on attracting skilled workers who can contribute immediately to the economy.

However, Victoria remains open to nomination applications for:

  • Permanent visa nominations (subclass 888): This visa is for people who hold a Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) visa (subclass 188) and have met the requirements of their provisional visa in the business innovation, investor, or significant investor streams.

  • Extensions for the Business Innovation and Significant Investor streams: Current visa holders can apply for an extension if they need more time to meet the permanent visa requirements.

These updates reflect the state’s commitment to supporting both skilled and business migrants, ensuring that Victoria continues to attract individuals who can contribute to its economic growth and development.
