Starting July 15, VETASSESS will resume accepting new applications for two specific trade occupations: Electrician (General), ANZSCO Code 341111, and Metal Machinist (First Class), ANZSCO Code 323214. These applications had been paused since September 2023 to allow the organization to focus on processing existing cases.

Following thorough discussions with Trades Recognition Australia (TRA), VETASSESS has decided to reopen these occupations to new applicants.

This reopening affects applications under both Pathway 1 and Pathway 2 for the Offshore Skills Assessment Program (OSAP) and the Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) program. Detailed information regarding the assessment process for Electrician (General) you can contact us today.

Applicants for the Electrician (General) occupation must note that this is a licensed occupation in Australia. Therefore, they are required to undergo a practical assessment in addition to a technical interview to meet the qualification criteria.

The decision to pause new applications last September was necessary to manage and streamline the assessment process effectively. With the backlog now under control, VETASSESS is well-prepared to handle new applications efficiently.

The practical assessment ensures that the applicants possess hands-on skills, while the technical interview assesses their theoretical knowledge and problem-solving abilities.

For Metal Machinist (First Class), the assessment process will similarly involve thorough evaluations to ensure candidates meet the high standards required for this skilled trade.

This reopening offers a significant opportunity for skilled workers in these trades to pursue their careers in Australia, contributing to the country's skilled workforce.

The resumption of these assessments reflects VETASSESS's commitment to maintaining high standards and supporting the skilled migration program in Australia. Applicants are encouraged to prepare thoroughly for the assessments and ensure all necessary documentation and qualifications are in order.
